48 Customers Gerald and Mary Carter, of Dadeville, wrote to compliment the Alabama Power employees who restored residential service aer a storm at Still Waters. Carter said four trees were blown down on power lines, destroying a transformer and blocking the driveway to the home. A crew cleared the trees and made all repairs, which brought the Carters' power, internet, phone and television back on line. "Everyone from the crew that cleared our road to the line repairmen exceeded our expectations for professional and expert service," the leer stated. Southern Division Alabama Power Service Organization (APSO) Praville Subchapter volunteers helped load and pack school supplies onto a school bus in July as part of the Autauga Education Foundation (AEF) Stuff the Bus campaign. APSO and AEF volunteers literally filled the bus in the Praville Area Chamber of Commerce parking lot with everything from notebook paper, pens, pencils, erasers and markers, to scissors, staplers, notebooks and three-ring binders. Praville APSO, along with other groups and individuals, donated the supplies, which will be distributed to all 14 schools in the Autauga County School System. APSO volunteers who helped pack the bus were Ann Smith, Praville Office, her husband, Ron, Gena Lowry, Wetumpka Office and John Wilkerson, Praville Merchandise Sales. Southern Division APSO board members helped assemble meals for the Meals on Wheels program sponsored by the Montgomery Area Council on Aging. The Gaston and Eastern Division APSO chapters partnered with Birmingham-based nonprofit KultureCity to create a sensory room for Childersburg High School. APSO volunteers spent two workdays this summer painting the room and installing mirrored ceiling tiles, bubble walls, kickboards and activity wall panels. APSO provided sensory puy, socks, colorful fiber-optic lamps and beanbag chairs. A sensory room is designed to provide a quiet, calming place for students who are affected by sensory sensitivities. Gaston and Eastern division APSOs unveiled the new room to Childersburg High School students at a "reveal" ceremony on Aug. 16.
