10 We have a strong reputation as an employer of choice. The Diversity & Inclusion subcommittee set out to ensure that is the experience for all employees. In our first year, we assessed our company, our composition and our commitment to building a culture of inclusion with the specific intent to embrace the uniqueness of what it means to be a diverse company. Together, we: • Reviewed workforce metrics that analyzed the pipeline and progression of women of color at Alabama Power. • Provided guidance on 2018 Voice of the Employee survey content. • Identified opportunities that official company guidance could be developed around specific cultural areas. • Engaged in discussions of industry best practices related to LGBTQ community inclusion. As a subcommittee, we understand that the greatest insights come from the counsel and perspective of the employee. So when DiversityInc. hosted a conference focused on women of color in corporate leadership, the CCI invited a group of employees to attend on our behalf. This was done, not only so the employees could build relationships, but to learn and provide guidance back to leadership on ways we could expand our support to women of color in their career journeys. 2018 Focus In 2019, the Diversity & Inclusion subcommittee will continue to learn from the employee voice. We will support the causes that celebrate, advocate and promote company values, and we will strive to acknowledge the importance of each employee. This includes tactics like: • Listen to the recommendation of employees through Voice of the Employee results. • Enhance welcome communication for all Alabama Power new hires. • Coordinate a statewide Veterans Day recognition for employees. • Continue to engage employees in discussions of diversity and inclusion to share their experiences and ideas. 2019 - Looking Forward Employees at the DiversityInc. conference including APC employees invited by CCI.
