Collaboration is critical to having excellent safety policy.
Originally chartered in 1921, the Central Safety Committee
(CSC) includes representation from company officers and
the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) to
provide overall policy for employee safety and health. Each
year, the CSC invites employees from across the company
to attend a two-day Fall Safety Planning Meeting to candidly
discuss real-world safety concerns and develop the Safety
Plan for the upcoming year.

As part of the 2018
Fall Safety Planning
Meeting, the CCI
added a culture and
inclusion panel to
explore how our
culture affects safety.
The panel determined
that employees are
most likely to raise
awareness of an
unsafe practice or risk
when they are in an
environment where
they feel connected,
valued and supported.
