5 In January 2018, the CCI was founded to help ensure that the culture at Alabama Power is the best it can be — built on inclusion, respect and fairness for all employees. The council members worked to establish a purposeful mission, outline specific objectives and designate areas of focus. Employee Count & Representation - What should we consider when hiring, retaining and restructuring our workforce? Diversity & Inclusion - How do we help ensure that every employee feels a part of Alabama Power? Discipline - Is there fair and equitable treatment of employees when receiving discipline? Concerns - How do we better foster an environment that welcomes an employee who speaks up? Talent & Leadership Development - Are there ways to further expand development opportunities to all employees? Enterprises & Events - How do we help ensure employees see themselves represented in programs and events throughout our company? Establish opportunities and processes for all employees to share their concerns and recommendations. Ingrain inclusion principles and practices throughout hiring, onboarding and professional development activities for employees and their managers. Develop and implement a comprehensive Culture and Inclusion Strategic Report to further advance this long- term company initiative. Our Objectives Through this collaborative forum, we identified larger elements that affect our culture and the employee experience: The Council To attract, develop and retain employees of diverse backgrounds. To raise awareness of the company's diversity and inclusion challenges, strategies and successes. To listen and respond to recommendations from employees throughout the company. THE MISSION
