"There can be no operating condition
which justifies our employees taking
the slightest chance in performing
their work."
At Alabama Power, safety is an active practice. And it is
our goal to proactively move from safety management
to safety leadership. In 2018, directors and managers
participated in DeepSafe Leadership training, a
new way of thinking about safety that goes beyond
behavior and recognizes that culture and context is
fundamental to safety excellence. Moving forward, all
new directors and managers will participate as a part of
their professional development.

DeepSafe Leadership: Five key practices
A longtime safety initiative at Alabama Power, Target Zero
has helped highlight the importance of safety to teams
for decades. In January 2018, Alabama Power introduced
Safety First: Target Zero with a challenge to have an even
greater focus on safety, to make it more personal and to
remind employees there are risks in everything we do.
