Page 1 COMMUNITY Orphaned cats who prior to 2016 stood lile chance of surviving are now thriving at the Kiy Kat Haven and Rescue in Hoover. Substation Physical Designer Charlie Starr is one of the founders of the cage-free, no-kill rescue facility. Page 2 APSO Multiple Sclerosis forced Peair Garre to retire from Gaston Steam Plant but his former co-workers are helping the fight against the disabling disease through fundraisers for the National MS Society. Page 4 ENERGIZERS Retiree Jim Murphy has helped in about 100 cleanups around his beloved Smith Lake since Renew Our Rivers was founded by Alabama Power employees. He doesn't see a reason to slow down. Page 6 CCI The Council on Culture and Inclusion has added new Core Council members, while founding members will continue their involvement through subcommiees. In February, the CCI welcomed about 250 people to the New Employee Forum in Birmingham. Page 7 INNOVATION For nearly 70 years, Alabama Power's Steel Shop has taken on big fabrication jobs with beer results and at cheaper costs than what many companies could provide. The work of the 16 employees is unique within the Southern Company. Page 9 OUR TOWN Halfway between Birmingham and Mobile, many people make a pit stop in Greenville on the way to the beach. However, the town of 8,000 residents has historic buildings and one of the world's best golf courses that are worthy of a closer look.
