The work of the Power Delivery Culture
Commiee is captured in two words:
People First.
"We want to embed cultural awareness throughout
our department," said Mikel Wijayasuriya, a
departmental team leader. "You do that by puing
people first, making connections that build
relationships from a foundational level."
During 2022, the PD Culture Commiee focused on
three key areas:
• Mentoring, an eight-month program with 215
participants, working in one-to-one mentoring
pairs to promote career development and
employee engagement.
• Women in PD, a six-month pilot program
involving monthly networking and educational
opportunities for female technical employees,
with 12 initial participants.
• New Employee Engagement, which is developing
onboarding programs to improve the new
employee experience.
Looking ahead to 2023, PD is seeking to encourage
more difficult conversations between colleagues.
That includes such initiatives as listening sessions
and book clubs, with the goal of ensuring that all
employees feel valued, connected and energized.
"It's about finding small ways to make big impacts,"
said Samantha Whorton, a senior engineer. "We
want to make sure every employee is heard and
that everyone shows up to work feeling that they
belong. That sounds like a tall order, but it has been
incredibly well-received."
