COMPANY 1 This summer, Alabama Power gathered more than 300 leaders at Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum for its first business forum in nearly a decade. Themed "Together Towards Tomorrow," the forum was designed to foster collaboration and partnership across the company and beyond. CEO Jeff Peoples and CFO Moses Feagin provided a state- of-the-business update, addressed challenges the company faces and cast the vision for growth. "Our employees are what make Alabama Power special," said Peoples. "I believe we're the best company in the state, but it will take all 6,100 of us working together to move our company and state forward." Within his presentation Peoples referenced a 2002 issue of Powergrams and its recap of a similar event where then-CEO Charles McCrary and other leaders outlined a strategy for the company's future. During the forum, McCrary joined Peoples onstage for a discussion. Many of the challenges the company has faced through the decades are cyclical in nature, including weather uncertainties, evolving environmental regulations and economic outlook. McCrary encouraged attendees to have a relentless focus on results related to customer satisfaction, financial performance and ethical behavior. As a result, Alabama Power will continue to serve customers well and fulfill its mission of elevating communities. Peoples reminded the group to focus on what's important to Alabama Power. He shared that this approach contributed to the company's development of the Top 10 Priorities. Alabama Power's Top 10 Priorities launched in February 2023 to help drive business strategy by addressing existing challenges and opportunities, aligning efforts and positioning the company for the future. More than 120 employees were engaged through cross-functional working groups to help assess the current state of these areas, identify opportunities and outline recommendations. During the forum, executive sponsors presented their initial findings and shared the strategies the teams have put in place and are now executing. Strength in partnerships Working together to increase the company's external presence Feagin and Zeke Smith, then-executive vice president for External Affairs, provided an update from the Regulatory Engagement and State and Local Engagement working groups, outlining the importance of constructive regulatory and legislative relationships. They reviewed their stated goals, which are to strengthen those relationships and enhance the company's external presence by engaging with key stakeholders and organizations.
