Alabama Power gathered more than 300 leaders at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex for the 2024 Business Forum, themed "Together Towards Tomorrow." The event was designed to foster collaboration and partnership across the company and beyond. CEO Jeff Peoples and CFO Moses Feagin provided state-of-the-business updates, addressed challenges the company and the Southern Company system face and discussed plans for growth. "We are the best company because you are the best employees," Peoples said. "All that we're doing – it's working because it's important to you. We have a plan, and our company and state are poised well for the future." In his remarks, Peoples spoke about prioritizing affordability for customers. He also discussed the importance of supporting economic development efforts by planning for increased capacity to serve large companies recruited to Alabama. "We are not built to be on the sidelines," Peoples said. "We are built to be leaders. And we are working to help bring industry to the state." Making, moving and selling electricity are the backbone of Alabama Power's business. Leaders from Power Delivery, Generation and Marketing gave updates on how their organizations are innovating and positioning the company to serve customers, now and in the future: Misty Walker, director of Forecasting and Resource Planning for Generation, spoke about the early successes with Plant Barry Unit 8, which was completed on time, under budget and with much of the construction occurring during a pandemic.
