Fruithurst customer Eric Parker called to compliment Anniston Engineer Billy Davis and Anniston Foreman Pat Martin and his crew. They built the power line to where Parker is living while his home is under construction. Parker commended Davis for his work in designing the line, and the crew for the "professionalism and courtesy they demonstrated to him and each other." Parker said the job was "one of excellence and showed the good folks Alabama Power has working for the company." Power Delivery-Tuscaloosa South Operations has worked 10 years without any accidents as of July 16. The group includes Wray Anderson, Jason Pruett, Mandy Shires, Greg Aldridge, Don Cameron, Dan Bott, Rhonda Walters, Rex Henderson, Jake Doughty and Trent Lesley. Gina Chesser, Corporate Headquarters, was elected president of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) Alabama Division in June. She received the Professional Development Award from the Alabama Power Chapter and the Alabama Division. Chere Johnson, Headland Office, was recognized in the Movers and Shapers Spotlight on Houston and Henry counties in the July issue of Business Alabama. The article highlighted Johnson's contributions in the community. She chaired the 2012 Henry County United Way campaign and serves on the organization's board of directors. She is involved with the Henry County Economic Development Board and the Henry County Advisory Board, serves on the Headland Area Chamber board of directors, and is a member of the Headland Area Kiwanis Club, of which she was the 2012 president. A customer's daughter called to thank Chris LeCroy, Metro South Office, for being professional and courteous when he visited her mother's house. She said LeCroy "represents Alabama Power very well" and his customers wanted to make sure the company knows how much they appreciated his help. IN MEMORIAM James H. Beckham, 92, retiree, General Office-USS Fairfield, Aug. 3. Customer Linda Hambright recently dropped off a note commending Marcella Ridgeway, Metro South Office, for providing exceptional service. "This was an awesome visit to transfer power to my new home," Hambright wrote. "Service here is incredible – Marcella was great." William G. Crowe, 93, retiree, Anniston, Aug. 19. Peter Poulos, 73, retiree, Mobile – Michigan Avenue Complex, Aug. 20. Gadsden employees have achieved 100 percent participation in United Way for the sixth consecutive year. Target Zero Heroes The Transmission Line Construction Support group has gone four years without a recordable injury or preventable vehicle accident to earn the Star Award and the Transmission Superstar Award.
