The Southeast/Farley Chapter of the Alabama Power Service Organization (APSO) helped with the Dothan Area Buddy Walk at Landmark Park Oct. 12. The day-long event with games, food and entertainment commemorates Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. APSO volunteers cooked, bagged and served 1,500 sack lunches for the participants. APSO members included Janet Hovey, Vicki Schofield, Tracey Dismukes, Carolyn Evans, Whitney Langford, Patti Jones, Bart Norton, Jake Taylor, Darius Brown, R.C. Graham, Heather Mims, Natalie Hodges and Paula Walker. Regions Bank Columbiana Branch Manager Jimmy Henderson wrote to thank Customer Service Representative Anita Davis for compassionately assisting a customer whose wife died. The distraught man learned power to his house had been disconnected while visiting Henderson. "Anita not only helped the customer while he was in my office, she went over and beyond to meet the customer as soon as he came to the local Alabama Power office," wrote Henderson. "The customer spoke so highly of Anita's customer service, saying that it was incredible." IN MEMORIAM A Hamilton customer sent a letter of appreciation for the work done by Local Operations Lineman Melvin Pendleton. When a large tree limb fell on the customer's line at about midnight, Pendleton quickly arrived and repaired the wires "beneath 30 years of kudzu and bushes" to restore power. Clinton W.
