100% CONNECTED Iron Bowl Overtime Photos by Bill Snow Food Drive pits AU and UA fans in bid to 'Can Hunger' Auburn University graduate Allison Westlake and University of Alabama graduate Katie Kilcoyne pitched in for food drive. Even though Crimson Tide fans hated the result, this year's Iron Bowl showed the best of what can happen when Alabama and Auburn compete on the gridiron – a game for the ages. Employees and visitors to Alabama Power Corporate Headquarters are being encouraged to keep the ball rolling for a great cause, as Tide and Tiger fans compete to see who can contribute the most food items through Jan. 10. The campaign is part of the Power of Good exhibit that opened Dec. 13 in the atrium Power Gallery. The "Let's Can Hunger" food drive is a project of the Magic City Chapter of the Alabama Power Service Organization. The food will be donated to the Community Food Decorated tables raised funds for Bank of Central Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. Alabama to help restock its holiday-depleted shelves. Can Hunger participants may stop by the Power Gallery to pick up a paper bag in which to carry food. They can bring the bags to the Power Gallery during normal work hours and place them in the barrels marked with their favorite team. And just to make the food drive a little more exciting, former football stars Wesley Britt of the Crimson Tide and Quentin Riggins of the Tigers have agreed to help celebrate the winning school at the end of the competition. If Auburn fans bring in the most pounds of food, Governmental Relations Vice President Riggins gets to "pie" Britt in the face; if Alabama fans' food weighs the most, Economic Development Representative Britt will have the honors. Riggins was one of 12 former Southeastern Conference football players named to the 2009 SEC Football Legends Class. He was a four-year letterman at linebacker for Auburn from 1986-89, earning All-American and All-SEC honors in both 1988 and 1989. Britt started at offensive tackle from 2001-04 at Alabama, earning All-American and All-SEC honors in 2004 before turning pro. He was named to the 2004 SEC Good Works Team. The Power Gallery exhibit also featured three beautifully decorated holiday tables from Alabama designers. Employees were able to buy tickets for a chance to win one of the tables during the week of Dec. 16-20. Money raised from ticket sales was given to the Community Food Bank. 7
