The Gaston Chapter of the Alabama Power Service Organization (APSO) partnered with Grace Baptist Church and Winn-Dixie to sponsor the first communitywide Thanksgiving lunch at Limbaugh Community Center in Childersburg. The Gaston employees helped purchase the food. Church volunteers served about 50 people at the center and delivered about 250 meals to store clerks, residents in various neighborhoods and anyone else who would miss out on Thanksgiving dinner. Substation Construction Crew 42 won Transmission's Superstar Award for working eight years without any recordable injuries. The group has not had a preventable vehicle accident since Jan. 1, 2001, when Transmission began keeping track of each crew's safety record. to buy rain gear for children under protective or foster care. "We are very fortunate to have such caring and giving individuals who reach out to those less fortunate in our county," Floyd wrote. The donation was from the APSO Alex City/Dadeville Chapter.
