Powergrams is published biweekly by Alabama Power for its employees, retirees and friends. Please report address changes by calling the editor. IN MEMORIAM The Jackson and Grove Hill offices collected toys for the local Department of Human Resources (DHR) and the Jackson Police Department's Operation Christmas. Employees donated 60 toys, including a bicycle, to DHR and 40 items to Operation Christmas. Sharon Harris, Metro South Office, received a handwritten thank-you note from one of Alabama Power's commercial customers. The customer wrote, "Thanks to you and the staff for helping in time of need." Harris had given the customer an extension to pay his bill due to a temporary drop in revenues at his business. The customer gave the note to Harris when he made his last payment. Customer Donna Layton recently called to recognize Alabama Power, saying the company is "awesome." She said Customer Service has always been great and is willing to work with her. Layton wants Customer Service employees to know she appreciates what they do and wished each one "happy holidays." The owner of Rainbow Properties wrote Gadsden Local Accounting Manager Ralph Lane to compliment Customer Service Representative Jennifer McCray. Roy Northcutt said he has "made numerous calls" to McCray during the past several years. "Jennifer has done a superb job in helping me …" Northcutt wrote, noting that his life "would be a lot less complicated" if employees of other companies he deals with were as professional and respectful as McCray. The director of the First Baptist Church Trussville WEE Center wrote Trussville Crew Headquarters General Clerk Tiffany Escott in appreciation of her helping make children's books on Community Helper Day. "Those books were perfect. We can't thank you enough," said Abby Wingard. An East Jefferson Office customer drew a sketch of Manager Denise McDaniel and left it for others to see, calling her a "six- star person" for helping him. "She makes customers feel like family!" the customer wrote on the sketch. Thumbs up! McDae Bumpers, 87, retiree, Barry Steam Plant, Dec. 6. Samuel G.
