Eastern Division Chapter Pell City members of the Alabama Power Service Organization (APSO) had a spaghetti lunch/school supply drive at the Pell City Office. The drive benefited the St. Clair County Foster and Adoptive Parents Association. Employees donated school supplies and then proceeds from the lunch helped APSO members buy more supplies for the organization. Mobile customer Kelly Osterbind recognized Chante Scott, Customer Service Center-North, saying she was "very pleasant, very thorough and very thoughtful." Osterbind added, "She was just very pleasant, very helpful and clearly went out of her way. It was a pleasure to talk to her." Phenix City Office employees went above the call of duty to help a customer on Feb. 18. When a woman visiting Appliance Sales had a seizure, Merchandise Salesperson Andrew Thompson and the customer's daughter caught her, preventing her from falling and possibly getting injured. Customer Service Representative Kathleen Mitchell dialed 911 as two concerned customers with medical training offered their help. The next day, the customer's daughter called Business Office Supervisor Karen Bennett to thank employees for assisting during the emergency. "Alabama Power was a godsend," the daughter told Bennett, reporting that her mother was resting at home and doing well. Angel Johnson, Customer Service Center-South, recently received praise from Montgomery customer Tomeka Shelton. "I was very satisfied with Ms. Angel. She was very understanding and explained things to me very well," Shelton said of her recent interaction with the company's Customer Service Center. Target Zero Heroes The Mobile Transmission Maintenance Center Substation group won the one-year Star Award for having no recordable injuries or preventable vehicle accidents since Aug. 21, 2013.
