They cleaned the common areas of the house, including the children's play area, the kitchen, the lounge, the stairwells and the elevators. On Aug. 1, 172 employees and family members donned their running shoes for the 35th annual Woodstock 5K Race in Anniston. The team, dubbed the Woodstock Kilowatts, won the award for most participants and placed third overall in the co-ed division with a total time of 1:51:58. As the largest team, the group received $750. The funds were given to Eastern Division APSO for donation to Venecia's Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in honor of a Tyler Union worker who died of cancer this year. The Kilowatts included employees from Eastern Division, Plants Miller and Gadsden, and Neely Henry and Harris dams. More than 1,000 people from across the country ran in the race, which was a qualifier for the Road Runners Club of America Southern Region 5K Championship. The Auburn area subchapter of Southeast APSO received several notes from third- graders at Ogletree Elementary thanking them for reading to their class throughout the school year. "It was so nice of you to come to our class and read with us," wrote Ella Thames. "We were always happy to see you every Tuesday morning. We were so glad you came." Grace Richardson wrote, "We enjoyed you taking time to read to us. Thank you so much. You are awesome."
