Water Whys
You hold in your hands the new, reimagined
Shorelines magazine. I hope you'll like it as much
as I do.
e finished product is the result of many
meetings, daily discussions and poring over
thousands of pages of magazines for ideas and
inspiration. Designer Dan Guffey built the new
look, with help from Dan Bynum, who leads
graphic arts for Public Relations, and Allison
Westlake, who does the heavy liing on Shorelines
editorial content. I tried to stay out of the way and
let them work their magic.
And they did. e new Shorelines is even more
visually stimulating, with large, dramatic photos
driving story telling more than ever. We tell those
stories in a variety of ways, from bite-sized pieces
to longer, more traditional narratives.
We chose summer to unveil the new look
because that's when our lakes are busiest, filled
with boaters, anglers, skiers, swimmers and folks
just looking to relax. is issue celebrates our
state's disabled water skiers' success on the world
stage; suggests tips for that perfect picnic at the
lake; brings alive memories of growing up on the
Coosa River; provides a summer safety guide; and
gives readers a perfect summer lake reading list.
