10 has served about 265 children in the Montgomery area. "Southern Division Energizers' $1,000 contribution to Child Protect Children's Advocacy Center was used to support the mission of the agency," Bailey said. "Child Protect relies on generous donations such as this to continue its work in the community of serving child abuse victims and their families." "We're really thankful for the generosity of our Southern Energizers," said Development Director Laurel Teel, who earned a bachelor's degree in human development and family services from Auburn University. "We're the only advocacy center in our area that provides forensic services and direct counseling to abused children." In support of Child Protect, the Southern Division Energizers will visit the facility to learn more about how their donation assists families. MAKING THE MOST OF RETIREMENT BY HELPING COMMUNITY "I am proud to have worked for Alabama Power for 42 years," Hale said. His career began with co-op stints while aending the University of South Alabama, where he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Hale started in 1973 in the Selma Engineering Department, where he worked for three years. From there, Hale worked in the Transmission and Substations groups in Montgomery. In 1984, he was promoted to supervisor of Greenville Engineering, from which he retired. Staying connected to the company and keeping in touch with friends is so important to Hale that he joined both the Southern and Southeast division Energizers. He said volunteering with Energizers is a way of maintaining Alabama Power's legacy. "I didn't want to completely lose contact with my old friends and co-workers," Hale said. "I think it's very important to help with community projects we support through our donations." Hale continues to look forward to the future. His larger interests are in the surrounding community of Montgomery, and trying to upli the lives of others. "I want to help make life beer for our people," Hale said.
