33 • Jennifer Chandler won the gold medal in diving at the 1976 Summer Olympics and the 1975 Pan American Games. She was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1985 and the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1987. • John Copeland was a consensus All- American for the University of Alabama aer graduating from Valley High School. He was on the 1992 Tide national championship team before playing for the Cincinnati Bengals 1993-2000. • Lemanski Hall was a teammate of Copeland and became an All-SEC linebacker for the University of Alabama aer graduating from Valley High School. Hall was in the NFL for nine seasons, playing for the Houston/Tennessee Oilers, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings. In 2018, he became an assistant coach for the Clemson Tigers. • Marcus Pollard played for Valley High School with Hall and Copeland before playing basketball at Bradley University. Despite never playing college football, he played in the NFL from 1995 to 2008, catching passes for the Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions, Seale Seahawks, New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons. He works for the Jacksonville Jaguars. • K. Lee Sco, one of the foremost composers of church music, has published more than 300 works. Sco's songs are included in eight hymnals. Holding two music degrees from the University of Alabama, he has served on the faculty of UA, UAB and Samford University. • Jylan Ware played for Valley High School and had college offers to play basketball but chose to play football at Alabama State University. He was draed in 2017, signed with the Oakland Raiders and is entering his second season in the NFL. at Troy University. Hubbard has a steady stream of customers who frequently purchase widescreen TVs, entertainment centers, Ashley furniture and special deals during Christmas. "Sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes it's not." Power Delivery-Distribution Engineer Leah Kathryn Cookston began working for Alabama Power as a co-op student in the Anniston Office in 2013. Aer graduating from Auburn University in 2016, she worked in Pell City before marrying Andrew and moving to Valley, where she has worked in the local office since December 2017. Cookston's father, Mahew Johnson, is a PD- Distribution-Generation lineman in Gadsden. "Valley has a small-town feel while being located so close to Auburn, Opelika and Atlanta," Cookston says.
