44 Alabama Power has launched a new version of its Shorelines app, which offers advanced interactive features to enhance lakegoers' experiences. In addition to lake-specific information about water levels and generation schedules, the new Smart Lakes app is a one-stop source for all relevant lake data. It features: • An easier way to find the best fishing spots, restaurants and marinas via an enhanced map. • Weather forecasts localized to each lake, including the highs and lows of the day. • The ability to report the location of invasive plants while on the water and around lake homes. • The ability to request a lake shore building permit. • Control of lake home smart thermostats to save energy. • The latest news about Alabama Power lakes and rivers. • A more immersive view of each lake using augmented reality on smartphones. The app is a continuation of the company's dedication to protecting natural resources while meeting the needs of lakegoers and property owners, said Hydro General Manager Herbie Johnson.
