"And developing relationships with your people is one of the most important requirements of a leader." He then took the big plunge as vice president of Power Generation and senior production officer at Gulf Power before geing "the call" to lead Barry. "I was focused on several large projects (at Gulf ) at the time. It was quite the surprise when I was asked to take over for Jay Burdee aer his retirement." Burroughs said his role is to put safety first, above all else, then make sure the plant is running well. "I'm also focusing on longer-term strategic planning for the future," he said. What does Burroughs aribute for his track record of success? "I owe everything to my parents, who taught me how to live, how to conduct myself, how to be successful in life and, finally, helped me to understand my destiny."
