10 "We have a good culture, but we can get better," Peoples said. "We want every employee at Alabama Power to know they are valued. Every employee should feel respected and be treated fairly, and we expect every leader in the company to be engaged in this effort." Five initiatives have been identified for 2019: millennial outreach, officer engagement, leadership involvement, mentorship and increased communications. "The council is doing important work, and our culture is everyone's responsibility. Our unique and diverse talents must be leveraged. Your insights and ideas are critical, and your input is key to our success," said CEO Mark Crosswhite. In April, Alabama Power employees celebrated company culture with the unveiling of the first-annual CCI strategic report and launch of a culture-focused employee communications campaign. In response to feedback from the biennial Voice of the Employee survey, company managers and supervisors held team meetings, taking time to pause for a culture moment and encourage ongoing team conversations around the importance of an inclusive culture. "The CCI strategic report was developed for all employees to understand the mission and objectives of the CCI, reflect on 2018 successes, outline our path forward and share how employees can engage to improve our culture," said Jean Lynch, Human Resources director.
