25 an author, Brown has been creating comic strips for many years. His first real foray into creating artwork for the public was in 2011. "I started drawing out ideas to see if I could do it, and the more I practiced, the more I enjoyed it," Brown said. "When I started posting my work on GoComics.com, it was like a crash course in learning how to create characters. That really laid the groundwork for me to write this children's book." In 2014, Brown switched gears and created a comic strip series designed to appeal to college football-loving Alabamians. The series, "The Iron Grudge," featured the rivalry between Roland, the elephant, and Claude, the Tiger, and their feud over Alabama and Auburn football. The Iron Grudge ran in the North Jefferson News from fall 2014 through spring 2015, Brown said. A few of the strips were published in the Trussville Tribune in 2015. Brown has drawn a variety of cartoons for Facilities Services. They have been published in the Alabama Power organization's safety newsletter, the Daily Target. Brown started drawing at age 3 and continued pursuing his passion throughout elementary and high school. He majored in art for two years at the University of North Alabama but put his dream on hold to join the Army. In 2003, he was hired at Alabama Power as a shipping and receiving clerk in the Appliance Service department. "I love drawing. It comes so naturally," said Brown. "I also like writing. I never said I was the best writer, but I just like being able to express myself through the characters and the book." Brown's book was produced by Kindle Direct Publishing and can be purchased at Amazon. A support assistant in Records and Information Management, Brown has been drawing for public readers since 2011.
