7 CCI OUTLINES PLANS FOR 2020, HOSTS NEW EMPLOYEE FORUM Through the mission and work of the Council on Culture and Inclusion, Alabama Power is developing a more inclusive culture that leverages the talents of all employees, leading to greater collaboration, responsiveness to customer needs and better business performance. The CCI provides student of the business and professional development training, including the New Employee Forum and Education Week, along with quarterly Lunch & Learns, mentoring resources and informal opportunities to engage with company leaders. COMPANY LEADERS TO SERVE ON CORE COUNCIL In February, the CCI announced new Core Council members, including Jeff Peoples, senior vice president of Employee Services & Labor Relations, Ashley Robinett, vice president of Corporate Real Estate, Terry Smiley, Eastern Division vice president, Houston Smith, vice president of Governmental Affairs and Tequila Smith, director of Energy Services. The CCI Core Council works to foster an inclusive environment while outlining specific objectives and designating focus areas for the work of the CCI, ensuring that all efforts align with its mission and address the Voice of the Employee survey results. The council oversees the work of the five CCI subcommittees. Founding Core Council members from 2018 to 2020 will continue to be involved in the work of the CCI through serving on CCI subcommittees. They include Alexia Borden, senior vice president and General Counsel, Myla Calhoun, vice president of Charitable Giving, Scott Moore, senior vice president of Power Delivery and Quentin Riggins, senior vice president of Governmental and Corporate Affairs. In 2020, the CCI is focusing on five areas: • Millennial Outreach: To connect with emerging generations, the CCI will continue to sponsor millennial-focused events, fostering inclusion within the company and with customers and communities. • Mentorship: Tools and resources will be made available to employees to promote engagement. Professional development resources will be available, with an increasing number of events held across the service territory. • Officer Engagement: The CCI will provide opportunities for employees to connect with company officers through informal events and employee programs, continued Left, Casey Shelton, business manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers System Council U-19, and Moore, right, were among executives who spoke to new employees.
