globe, giving Alex a senior year she'll never forget.
"We've been able to do a lot while we've been home," said
Jamie. "All those extracurriculars keep her busy during the
year so we're enjoying the opportunity to spend some time
together before she starts this next chapter of her life."
Alex and her fellow graduates were eventually able to have a
graduation ceremony, but her teachers made sure the students
were celebrated even during the many weeks spent at home.
"When we went to pick up our caps and gowns, all
our teachers were lining the road cheering with signs to
congratulate us," she said. "They even had signs made for us
to put in our yards, too."
That support followed Alex throughout her years at school.
The relationship she formed with many of her teachers is one
of her fondest memories.
"Our teachers are amazing," she said. "They really show
how much they care for you. Being from a small town, there's
a strong sense of community relationships. I still talked to
some of my teachers even when school was closed."
Now Alex can look to her future with excitement, thanks to
the foundation's scholarship.
"This scholarship is such a huge relief," she said. "It's a
tremendous blessing."
