Employees engaged in conversation through small group discussions, manager-led conversations and online channels. Hundreds of responses were received, and employee feedback was used to develop the company's immediate initiatives, beginning to turn conversation into action. Turning Conversation into Action In July, Alabama Power commied to creating new internal and external opportunities for minorities during the following 18 months. In addition, increased training is being provided to employees to continue cultural education. CREATION OF JOB OPPORTUNITIES The company will expand programs with proven success and establish new partnerships to develop the workforce pipeline including: >Lawson State and Jefferson State Apprentice Programs. >Utility Assistant Internship Program. >HBCU Partnership. >HVAC Fast Track Training Program. INTERNAL CULTURAL EDUCATION To reaffirm the company's commitment to end racism and advance inclusion, increase understanding and help identify unconscious biases, all employees will participate in inclusion training beginning in 2021. PAY AND REPRESENTATION EQUITY In coordination with the Southern Company System, an independent company will continue to conduct an annual analysis focused on pay equity, wage gap and glass ceiling to ensure fair treatment. Adjustments will be made for any discrepancies identified. To increase understanding, Alabama Power leaders will review the company's representation on a quarterly basis, identifying opportunities to increase minority representation, identifying talent and implementing actionable plans. DIVERSITY SPEND Alabama Power will leverage its purchasing and procurement efforts to create economic opportunities for minority-owned, female-owned and disadvantaged businesses. The company will increase its minority spending 25% across the state in 2021. The company will continue to identify ways to foster communities of inclusion internally and externally. Through its work with partners across the state, Alabama Power is engaged in supporting organizations, initiatives and policies that address barriers to prosperity and racial equity, working to make the state a beer place to live and work for all Alabamians. Cultivating an inclusive culture is not a one- time effort. It's a journey to beer understand one another, and the struggles and triumphs different communities face. Alabama Power is commied to doing the necessary hard work to fight racism, discrimination and intolerance to move forward to a place of more fairness, equity and acceptance, creating a brighter future for all people.
