21 Rane in 2019 for the facility now recognized as "The Lancaster Mill" within the Great Southern family of companies. As the 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. shift ends and the sawmill is mostly empty, Lancaster says he was shocked to have the mill named in his honor. Most of the 115 employees have returned to their homes as he walks from one end to the other of the sprawling facility. He is pleased at the level of production that has been reached so quickly. "Two years ago, we started with maybe three or four people who had any sawmill knowledge," he says. "Our employees come from right around this area and they're really proud of what we've accomplished." ALABAMA POWER OFFICE Abbeville Business Office Customer Service Representative Amanda Davis has been with Alabama Power for 27 years. She started in Abbeville, transferred to Southeast Division Accounting after seven years, then moved in 2012 to Gulf Power in Pensacola, Florida, as an administrative assistant for the Western Division manager, supporting Commercial Marketing. "That was a great opportunity for me and I loved my position, plus working close to the beach was a bonus," Davis says. "I transferred back to Alabama Power due to my husband Jeff 's job opportunity in Dothan and then in 2015 I transferred back to the Abbeville office to work closer to home." The Davises live in nearby Headland, where Jeff owns a cabinet shop he opened after many years in the construction business. They attend Harvest Church in Dothan and lead small groups among lifelong friends. Amanda and Jeff enjoy fishing in the Gulf and traveling. Amanda's son, Matt Hatcher, is a paramedic and lieutenant with the Headland Fire Department and deputy assistant for Henry County EMA. He is married to Victoria, a nurse practitioner, and they have a 3-year-old son, Griff. Amanda's daughter, Morgan Camp, works in Marketing for Sanders Beach Rentals in Dothan. She is married to Casey, operations manager of J&M Electric. Their children are Caden, 12, Ryleigh, 10, and Huck, born Dec. 24, 2020. "When I talk about my family, I don't know when to stop because I am so proud of them," Amanda says. "We love spending time with our family, especially the grands. Most of the time you will find us spending our time with our families." Amanda is a graduate of Abbeville Christian Academy, which her father helped build and she attended all 12 years of elementary and high school. "I grew up in the Abbeville area and know most of my customers and their families," she says. "I have seen a lot of changes over my years with the company, for sure. I love my customers and serving the Abbeville area. God has truly blessed me." There are no parking meters along Kirkland Street. Alabama Power's modern office has a vintage neon sign out front.
