spends time with special needs kids through Project Outreach,
tutors other students and takes part in coastal cleanups on
Mobile Bay and area waterways. Through school and church,
she helps collect canned goods at Thanksgiving for Prodisee
Pantry in Spanish Fort.
"I've always had a big heart for service," said Josie. "If I see a
need, I meet it. It's not to put on a résumé or get praise from
others. I feel I was blessed with gifts of leadership and service,
and I try to use those the best way I can."
During her free time, Josie enjoys hunting, fishing, cooking,
watching TV documentaries and spending time with her
family.
This summer, while anticipating the move to college, she
is working as a nanny and soccer referee, fishing as much as
possible and "just soaking up the last few minutes of getting to
call Fairhope home."
"Josie is a true winner at this school," said Fairhope High
School Principal Jon Cardwell, adding that he has known her
since she was in the seventh grade. "She sets goals and gets
them. She takes the toughest classes, works, volunteers and is
an all-around Fairhope Pirate."
