RELIABILITY technology, and engagement in public policy at all levels have earned the company many industry awards and recognition. These include the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies' 2018 Achievement Award for increasing electric reliability through an improved integrated distribution management system (IDMS), and the prestigious Edison Electric Institute's 2021 Advocacy Excellence Award, recognizing the company's engagement and activism in public policy advocacy at federal, state and local levels. This level of innovation is supported by the company's history of visionary leadership, a culture of innovation and a unique level of collaboration across the industry. "We have done a lot in over four decades and there is even more ground to cover in this space," said Rogers. "The grid is evolving rapidly with new technologies, new forms of generation such as renewables, distributed energy resources, etc., and increasing customer demands. We must continue to be innovative to maintain a reliable, resilient and secure electrical grid." Power Delivery employees are constantly working to enhance and modernize Alabama Power's grid, using and investing in technology to maintain its high reliability rate, accommodate rapidly changing technological advances, and improve resiliency to meet customers' needs now and for generations to come. "We must imagine the grid of the future and start building it today," said Justin Harrison, Central Engineering manager. "We're very excited about building Alabama's energy future and paving the way for the entire industry." 15
