APSO Associate Director J. Patrick Reed said the frigid winter weather ini ated the pop-up drive. "Many in our communi es are in need of warm clothing to help them in colder months. Magic City APSO can make a difference." APSO is a nonprofit volunteer organiza on comprised of Alabama Power, Southern Nuclear, Southern Linc and Southern Company Services employees and their families. Understanding that philanthropy is more than money, APSO members also give their most precious resource: me. APSO donated the items to Jimmie Hale Mission, a Chris an- based nonprofit that provides a homeless shelter for men, women and children. It's during mes of severe weather that community ac on agencies are called on the most. The ABC Trust, which is not funded with ratepayer dollars, also supports nonprofits by providing grants for energy-efficient upgrades and health and human service projects. The Alabama Power Founda on also proudly supports several organiza ons across the state that provide warming sta ons to residents in need.
