7 Shor e l i n e S | 2014 Vol :1 Bass fishing tournaments on Alabama Power lakes are nothing new. On any given Saturday from March through September, you'll find one or more bass tournaments on every Alabama Power reservoir. You'll find bass tournaments on those same lakes on many weeknights, too. Alabama Power, which takes pride in the many varied recreation opportunities these lakes provide, hosts hundreds of bass tournaments annually. The lakes have played host to the nation's top bass tournaments through the years, including the Bassmaster Classic many times. The nationwide FLW Tour has conducted its championship twice on Alabama Power lakes. The Mark's Lay Lake Open, Alabama's largest bass tournament with more than 500 boats and 1,000 participants, has for the past 20 years been held on Alabama Power lakes. Alabama Power is also proud to play a role is the new Alabama Bass Trail Tournament Series. Announced last year and with its first tournaments underway this year, the tournament trail backed by the state of Alabama is already adding significantly to tourism. The tournaments are also already having a dramatic economic impact on host cities for each of those tournaments across the state. The trail features five tournaments each in the North and South divisions filled by anglers from across the Southeast. Tournament stops this year in the North Division include Alabama Power lakes Neely Henry in Gadsden on April 5 and Logan Martin in Pell City on June 21. In the South Division, tournament stops include Lake Jordan in Wetumpka on April 19 and Lay Lake on June 7. Pelham will be the host city for the Lay Lake event.
