6 Earlier this year, Southern Company employees were introduced to the Get Plugged In initiative. Employees of each operating company were challenged to get involved in the company's growth by using electric products in their own homes and promoting them to their families and friends. Alabama Power Executive Vice President Steve Spencer kicked off the informational campaign at the 2014 Business Forum. "We have a strong legacy but to be successful in the future we must continue to grow revenue," Spencer said. "This campaign will give you more information on how to contribute to our success." Vice President of Marketing Don Scivley was featured in an article on Southern Today that started the systemwide campaign. "Our employees are incredible ambassadors for our company in the communities where they live and work, and they can use their influence to promote electric products as well," said Scivley. "This effort will build on our pride in the company, our belief in the positive attributes of electricity and our understanding of how employees can directly impact the bottom line. In addition, our customers will reap the benefits of lower energy costs and improved comfort. It's really a win-win- win for our customers, our company and our stockholders." Following the announcements, representatives from Alabama Power's Marketing Department held a Get Plugged In event at Corporate Headquarters. More than 300 employees had the chance to ask questions and learn firsthand about benefits of an all-electric household.
