Recent changes have brought new leadership to key areas of Alabama Power. While a couple of long-time executives moved outside the company and four new leaders moved in, most of the changes have veterans directing new areas for them. "These individuals are strong leaders," said Mark Crosswhite, Alabama Power chairman, president and CEO. "They bring tremendous experience and knowledge to their new roles. The changes put us in a strong position to move forward – to meet the growing challenges to our business and the evolving needs and desires of our customers." Greg Barker, former senior vice president for Marketing and Economic Development, is now executive vice president responsible for Customer Services. He is responsible for broad oversight of operations that touch and support Alabama Power's 1.4 million residential, commercial and industrial customers. Alexia Borden is the new vice president with responsibility for Governmental Affairs. She was previously a partner in the Montgomery office of Balch & Bingham LLC. Matt Bowden, who was vice president for Environmental Affairs, has moved into the senior vice president and general counsel post. Myla Calhoun has been elected vice president of Charitable Giving. She was previously general counsel and senior vice president for Regional Development and Public Policy at the Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA). Susan Comensky is the new vice president with responsibility for Environmental Affairs after leaving her role as vice president of External and Regulatory Affairs at Southern Power. She is responsible for environmental compliance and strategy, as well as the company's environmental stewardship programs and operations. Stephanie Cooper is the new vice president with responsibility for Public Relations after serving as a senior attorney for Georgia Power, which was preceded by her role as director of Corporate Communications for Southern Company. She is responsible for the company's public relations strategy as well as internal and external communications. Myrk Harkins, who was vice president and director of Corporate Real Estate, has been named vice president responsible for Special Projects. John Hudson left his post as vice president of Public Relations and Charitable Giving to become senior vice president responsible for Marketing and Business Development. He has direct responsibilities for Marketing, Customer Services, Economic and Community Development and the company's innovation efforts. Richard Hutto is the new vice president responsible for Regulatory Affairs after leaving his role as vice president of Southeast Division. Gordon Martin, former senior vice president and general counsel, is the new senior vice president responsible for Corporate and Administrative Services.
