While Chef Troy Hill may not be
from Alabama, he's such a fixture in the
Smith Lake community that one would
never know he isn't a native. Originally
from California, Hill has cooked his
way across the United States, settling in
Alabama 18 years ago. In 2009, he and
his wife opened their first restaurant
together, Chef Troy's Talk of the Town
in Houston.
Hill brought his passion for
cooking and years of experience
working for restaurants in Huntsville
to the restaurant where he is famously
known for his Cajun dishes.
"There isn't anything I don't like
to cook," said Hill.
One look at the Talk of the Town
menu and it's obvious Hill has
many specialties. From biscuits with
chocolate gravy to Cajun shrimp and
cheese grits, his food has become
wildly popular.
"People travel from as far as
120 miles away to come to the
restaurant," Hill said.
Hill has recently opened a second
restaurant in Jasper, Chef Troy's
Country Cuisine, specializing in
Southern fare.
Their catering business is also
booming with charity, school and
church events year-round. Hill's
