Easter Seals West Alabama Aspires To
Serve More People With New Facility
Easter Seals is a national organization that serves
children and adults with disabilities and special
needs, helping them to lead beer lives through
rehabilitation, training and advocacy. The Easter Seals
West Alabama chapter is building a new multi-use
facility to house its many social services, vocational
programs and rehabilitation efforts. The new campus
will include a work training center and job skills lab,
offering new opportunities for disabled citizens and
workforce development.
The new property will house all of Easter Seals West
Alabama's operations and several vocational programs
of the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services.
Together, these agencies provide job placement,
development and coaching, and employer services
to more than 300,000 individuals across eight
predominantly rural Alabama counties.
Support from the Alabama Power Foundation is
helping the new building come to fruition. This
operation has the potential to revolutionize social
services and workforce development in West Alabama,
building on successful programs that have helped
thousands of people over the past 55 years.
