Among the most rich and famous of
her era, Tallulah Bankhead died in
in 1968 after starring on Broadway,
in major films, television shows
and radio programs. She won the
New York Film Critics Circle Award
for Best Actress for her role in
"Lifeboat" and was honored as best
actress for the plays "The Little
Foxes" and "The Skin of Our Teeth."
Her autobiography was a New York
Times best-seller, selling more than
10 million copies. Her father, William
B. Bankhead, was U.S. Speaker of
the House when he died in 1940.
