"We have rallies all over the place. We've
been a big supporter of the Eldridge Free Will
Baptist Children's Home," Baker said. "We
sponsor one or two kids every Christmas,
making sure they have gis."
Baker varooms into the future
When Baker isn't zooming to some fun
destination, he can be found volunteering
with Energizers, the charitable arm for
retirees of Alabama Power, Southern
Company Services and Southern Nuclear.
The first week into retirement, Baker was
at a lunch meeting of the Jasper Energizers.
For the past two years, he's joined Jasper
Energizers in supporting Backyard
Blessings, which provides weekend meals for
underprivileged children in Walker County.
Baker and others gather weekly at the Piggly
Wiggly in Dora to fill bags with food for
children.
"I really receive a blessing being able to
work with Backyard Blessings," Baker said.
"Volunteering is always a nice way to spend
my Thursday morning. Between helping the
Energizers and riding most days, I'm always on
the go."
Baker always wears neon clothing and safety equipment.
