43 Supplier diversity is more than a business strategy, it is a commitment to cultivating development in the economies of communities we serve. Alabama Power's Supplier Diversity is dedicated to the recruitment and engagement of more than 1,150 small and diverse businesses, including minority-owned, woman-owned, HUBZone, veteran-owned and service disabled veteran- owned businesses. Through supplier development programs, we establish mutually beneficial relationships with our supplier base and provide mentorship and training that helps them do business with utilities. Supplier Diversity in 2018: • Recognized as a top advocate in supplier diversity by Edison Electric Institute, South Regions Supplier Development Council and Women's Business Enterprise Council. • Executed the first PowerEXPO to showcase our business units, supplier diversity advocates and business community members with over 400 in attendance. Supplier Diversity For over 100 years, our company's Economic Development team has been involved in the projects that transform the state of Alabama. A trusted resource to companies evaluating new locations and expansions throughout the state, employees assist clients from project scope definition to successful implementation and ongoing support. Successful economic development leverages Alabama Power employees' long- lasting relationships to ensure a partnership that extends for the life of a new business, because our growth and success as a company is directly tied to the growth and success of the state. Economic Development Alabama Power was the first electric utility in the U.S. to establish an Economic Development Department. Over 4,000 jobs announced in 2018.
