Alabama Power reminds individuals with boats and

e dam, which has one generator, was named in honor
of Oscar. G. urlow, a chief engineer, vice president and
director of Alabama Power.
In 1928, urlow was awarded the Howard N. Potts
Medal by the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia for his
work in science and the mechanical arts. He invented the
urlow Backwater Suppressor, which was first installed
at Mitchell Dam on the Coosa River.
Somewhat of a secret for local anglers, urlow
Reservoir is not heavily fished and boasts good bass
fishing as a result. Its picnic areas and boardwalk are
perfect places to enjoy a sunset.
