S O C I A L E Q U I T Y S HARING OU R STORIES The events of social injustice left many feeling uncertain, sad and even angry. To increase understanding of one another, Alabama Power employees were provided tools and resources to help process current events and to better understand the systems of inequity that have existed for generations. Company leaders began modeling the importance of dialogue by sharing personal stories through the "Our Shared Responsibility" video series. In late summer, messages transitioned to employees sharing their stories on the importance of developing more inclusive communities. TOWN HALL In July, company leaders continued to further the dialogue when CEO Mark Crosswhite and the Management Council hosted a virtual town hall. The event included a discussion on how the company is working to fight social injustice and devise strategies for advancing inclusion at Alabama Power and in the communities we serve. BRE AKING TH E S ILE NCE WE BINAR S E RIES Talking with teammates on sensitive topics can be difficult. To help aid in the discussion, the CCI partnered with Georgia Power to offer a series of webinars on fundamental concepts and terms related to race and racism. An Introduction to Systemic Racism. • A Crash Course in Privilege. • Where Do We Go From Here? ADVANCING INCLUS ION The need for change is great, and our efforts are ongoing. We know that as Alabama Power employees, we have a responsibility to advance diversity, equity and inclusion, not only in our workplace, but throughout our state. We are commied to continuing the conversation and working to create meaningful change, so that all employees are valued, respected and treated fairly.
