2022 CCI STRATEGIC REPORT | 3 At Alabama Power, people are our driving force. That includes the customers we serve, as well as public and private partners throughout the state who share our commitment to creating more and beer opportunities for the people of Alabama. But it starts with our workforce. Alabama Power has always been a great place to work, investing in the well-being of employees and their families and the communities in which they live. Over the years, our company continues to become more reflective of Alabama itself– a place where people of diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives make us more responsive to the needs of all our customers. For most of the past decade, Alabama Power has been commied to helping lead the way in addressing issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. More than that, we continue to support our workforce in leveraging their talents, ideas and time in ways that improve Alabama Power and contribute to the communities we serve. Our Council on Culture and Inclusion (CCI) is a critical element in these efforts. Since its launch in 2018, the CCI has helped Alabama Power make significant progress in areas such as the creation of new internal and external job opportunities; our focus on veterans' transition efforts; increased spending with minority-owned, women-owned, and disadvantaged businesses; enhanced engagement with HBCUs; as well as our Customer Service Development Program. As you'll see in this report, we continue to make progress on key 2022 initiatives in career development, performance accountability and fostering an inclusive culture. Looking to the year ahead, Alabama Power is more commied than ever to enhancing the employee experience and ensuring that all who work for our company are welcomed, valued, respected and most of all, included. Our success in meeting the needs of our customers and serving our communities and our state starts with engaging our employees in shaping Alabama Power's present and future.
