In 2015, an additional $5,000 grant from TechBridge to help nonprofits access their technol- ogy needs was added to the Elevate grant. § Grant money can be used for capac- ity building. elevAte The Elevate program empowers organizations by providing funds for community projects, capacity-building workshops and networking oppor- tunities. Each 2015-2016 recipient received a $10,000 grant in 2015 and will receive a $5,000 challenge grant in 2016. New to the grant package this year, Elevate grant recipients will receive a technology assessment from TechBridge valued at $5,000. Grant winners will participate in workshops through 2016 to help them grow and find ways to expand their positive impact. PRe-KIndeRGARten In early 2016, the Alabama Power Foundation will support 20 pre-K programs across the state with classroom grants. The $10,000 grants will enable pre-K programs to improve their learning environments. Early childhood education is one of the three focus areas for the Alabama Power Foundation's Brighter Minds education initiative, along with strengthen- ing STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and workforce development, and providing conservation education. Twenty grant recipients have been chosen and those grants will be awarded and announced in early 2016.
