Cover image – K arim shamsi-Basha As a surge in high school fishing sweeps across the country, the Hayden High School fishing team is a dynasty in Alabama, having won four state championships in the past five years. Photographer Karim Shamsi-Basha spent a recent afternoon at Smith Lake with the team and captured what these young anglers and their coaches are doing to remain a powerhouse. dan Guffey is a graphic designer at Alabama Power whose work has won local and regional ADDY awards, a Utilities Communicators International award and an appearance in Print's Regional Design Annual. allison WesTlaKe is a communications specialist at Alabama Power. She has served on the staffs of Coastal Living and Sandra Lee Semi- Homemade magazines, with work published in Celebrate magazine and Julep, an online publication. BoB Bl alocK, manager of the Content Development Team at Alabama Power, was an award-winning journalist in Alabama for more than three decades, mostly at The Birmingham News. He was named The News' first senior reporter and, as editorial page editor, led a project that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. K arim shamsi-Basha Cover photographer Karim Shamsi-Basha has been a photographer for 25 years, with work published in National Geographic Traveler, Sports Illustrated, People, Time, Southern Living, B-Metro and Coastal Living. He also has published three coffee table books. The latest, "Home Sweet Home Alabama," features beautiful sites and people of the state.
