Sometimes, people have to wait to build because we have to wait until we have money available." "This is our community, and our children need examples of us serving," added Mikula, customer services specialist - Huffman Office. Magic City APSO will help many nonprofits, such as Ronald McDonald House, where members prepare meals for people with family in Birmingham hospitals. Members will volunteer in the 11th annual APSO Run, Meals on Wheels, Read Across America, APSO Corporate Services Golf Tournament, and several walks and runs for nonprofits in the Birmingham area. They'll donate to the Weekenders Backpack Program through the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. Southeast/Farley APSO is supported by business office employees, with board members from Eufaula, Headland, Ozark, Phenix City and Valley, as well as by Southern Nuclear employees at Plant Farley, said chapter President Jessica Gresse. "We are going to put a big emphasis on fundraising," said Gresse, who noted their rib sale with Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Dothan raised $1,000 for Backpack Buddies. "It's a really large project that makes a big impact on our schools by helping ensure that lower-income children have food to eat on weekends." The chapter will revisit hosting senior proms for nursing home residents, held in Eufaula and Phenix City in 2018. "Both proms were hugely successful and made a positive impact on residents," said Gresse, Farley Site Design engineer, who was co-president in 2018. Western APSO President Tiffaney Hassinger said their members take part in many service and fundraising projects. Members of Western APSO's Northwest sub-area will volunteer at Feed My Sheep, a new food bank in Guin, and will hold a Habitat for Humanity build in 2019. "One of our biggest projects is game day parking at the Tuscaloosa Business Office," said Hassinger, customer service representative - Jasper Office. "We provide parking for people who aend the Magic City members (from left) Jordan Reece, Tammy Reece, Anna Chandler, Kristen Hope, Nicole Hedrick, Felicia Little and Wilbur Johnson delivered cheeriodicals to Ronald McDonald House.
