"We want our meetings to be fun and
informational," Horne said. "I enjoy visiting
with former co-workers. This is a social time,
but it's also about learning, accomplishing
something for our community and staying
involved."
Energizers Coordinator Don Franklin
admires Horne's way of geing things done.
"I have told Van that I didn't know he was so
competitive," said Franklin, who has worked
with the Energizers for 15 years. "He is a good
leader and helped his chapter win the state
awards."
Aer Horne had been retired for a year,
Corporate Energizers Secretary Glenda Taylor
asked him to consider joining Energizers.
"I respect Glenda's passion for helping the
community," Horne said. "Being in Energizers
is an opportunity to serve. I have been a
Rotarian for 30 years, and I wanted to help our
company organization."
Even a winner needs some downtime:
Horne and his wife, Carolyn, will enjoy beach
breaks in Destin. He will spend time with
his granddaughters and grandson who live
nearby, aending their soccer meets, as well
as visiting his daughter and son-in-law in
Silverthorne, Colorado. He's also active at
Trussville Baptist Church.
"I do like to win," Horne said. "My feeling is, 'If
you're going to do it, you might as well win.'"
