We work to enrich our lives, support artistic and cultural progress, affirm individual value and dignity, and to promote a sense of well-being for all people. plAns For grAnT: To support the GCAF's YouthALIVE! program, which works hand in hand with Imagination Place Children's Museum to reach out to traditionally underserved communities.Ex- treme measures are often necessary to enable youths to make the successful transition from childhood to adulthood. We employ an artist in residence to provide art instruction to the community. nAme: AlAbAmA possible yeAr Founded: 1993 leAdership: Kristina Scott, executive director mission: To partner with higher- education and faith-based organiza- tions to strengthen awareness about poverty and its causes while advocating for fact-based policy decisions statewide. plAns For grAnT: To support Alabama Possible's work to boost the attainment of valuable postsec- ondary credentials by teaming high school students with college student mentors to complete college- going milestones; building a college-going culture; and nurturing cross-sector partnerships with school systems, higher education institutions and other like-minded community organizations to increase student success. nAme: FAmily serviCe CenTer oF CoFFee CounTy yeAr Founded: 1998 leAdership: Judy Crowley, executive director mission: To help Coffee County families achieve family stability and reach their goals while raising their children in a safe and nurturing environment. This mission of sup- porting and strengthening families through a coor- dinated network of community resources has helped thousands of families achieve success during the past 17 years. This has been achieved primarily through home visits, group education, resource referral and the coordination of community resources. plAns For grAnT: To support Building Blocks, a program of home visits and group education for pregnant and parenting teens. Building Blocks will help these girls learn how to care for their children and stay in school until graduation.
