These improve- ments will help strengthen services provided to the 70 women who stay at McKemie Place each night. nAme: hAbiTAT For humAniTy oF norThWesT AlAbAmA yeAr Founded: 2000 leAdership: Teressa Clark, resource director mission: To eliminate substan- dard housing in northwest Alabama (Fayette, Franklin, Lamar, Marion and Winston counties) and to make simple, decent, affordable housing a matter of conscience for all. We provide exceptional services to ensure that low-income fami- lies in have the opportunity of homeownership and asset-building by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. plAns For grAnT: To hire a part-time construction coordinator who will work on educating communi- ties about new repair programs, such as Ramps & Rails and A Brush with Kindness. This will allow the organization to serve more families and needs. These programs will also allow students in the new Habitat campus chapters in some area high schools to be more actively involved. The construction co- ordinator will be able to visit businesses in the area to discuss partnerships with us to provide donated construction goods and items for our new home builds and repair programs. nAme: mid-AlAbAmA CoAliTion For The homeless yeAr Founded: 1996 Leadership: Molly Stone, executive director mission: To be the leader in its com- munity's effort to plan, coordinate and develop resources with the goal of ending homelessness. MACH's mission is to serve as a vehicle to secure Housing and Urban Development funding and provide support to and resources for organizations that provide services for the homeless in the River Region. MACH accomplishes its mission through its activities as the HUD-designated Continuum of Care for its area, including the annual point-in- time count, data collection and needs assessment, an annual Blanket Drive, its River Region Connects homeless resource fair, a Street Outreach program and a Housing Assistance Program for those exiting homelessness. plAns For grAnT: To build the capacity of its orga- nization through professional development, to pro- vide the staffing and supplies needed to operate its Street Outreach program and to design and imple- ment a coordinated assessment system to decrease barriers into the local homeless service system. nAme: Jimmie hAle mission yeAr Founded: 1944 leAdership: Tony Cooper, executive director mission: To minister to the spiritual and physical needs of the men, women and children in our community by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Jimmie Hale Mission has helped more than 1,000 men and women secure employment since 2006. plAns For grAnT: To support the mission's three Stewart Learning Centers: Shepura Men's Center, Jessie's Place for women and children, and Royal Pines for addiction recovery. These centers help men and women in the areas of education remediation and career readiness.
