PowerofGood.com | Spring 2015 on nonprofit boards. The workshop went into great detail on board development, structure and engage- ment, and helped participants identify areas in need of improvement within their own organizations, as well as tangible ways to strengthen those less devel- oped areas. Participants also valued their time outside the workshop. The two-day event offered the organizations lots of time to get to know one another and what's happening across Alabama. Organizations on opposite sides of the state were able to discuss the similarities in their work and missions and share best practices. Several organizations in different areas of service but the same part of the state were able to get to know one another better and form unanticipated partnerships on upcoming projects. "Events like this show that Alabama Power really believes in nonprofit organizations," said Teressa Clark, resource director of Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Alabama. "They're not just about providing electricity, they're about making communities better." The next Elevate workshop is May 7. Again, the workshop will be led by Ammons, this time covering Program and Logic Modules. These workshops are part of the grant package awarded to Elevate grant recipients. The package also includes a $10,000 grant in the year the grant is awarded and a $5,000 challenge grant the following year. The application period for 2016 Elevate grants will be announced at the Elevate conference June 11 and 12. GRANTEES continued on page 8 7 Meet the 2014 Elevate Grantees nAme: Joseph F.
