23 Shor e l i n e S | 2016 Vol :3 It's hard to describe exactly what it is that draws us to the calming waters of the lake. Maybe it's the warm glow of an early morning sunrise, birds flying in formation, or the ripples of the water behind a boat's wake. Whatever it is that may draw us there, we leave inspired and restored, looking for a way to capture it. That same inspiration has found its way to a community of artists all across the state, bound together by a love of their craft and their love of the lake. Artists also bring the Lake Martin community together each year at Arti Gras, a Russell Lands On Lake Martin art show. Many artists are native to the area or have found themselves drawn to the lake's shores and its surrounding communities. Their inspiration and art forms vary, but their contribution to bringing the arts to the lake is invaluable. For some, it's been a lifetime endeavor. For others, it's a side project. One of these artists is Romaine Crockett, an Auburn-based potter Above: Photo by Ted Tucker – Lace-like intricacies, texture and color showcase the skill of artist Romaine Crockett's.
