GRAPHIC ARTIST HAS RECIPE FOR
FLASHY SPANISH DANCE
Having wordless conversation
sounds impossible. But Brandon
Smith says he does it at work and
play.
The 31-year-old accomplishes
the feat as a graphic artist in Sales
Communication at Alabama Power,
and in his spare time as a touring
salsa and bachata dancer.
"Dancing is a conversation without
words, and there must be some
correlation between my dancing and
my profession," he says dryly and
rhetorically.
Smith dances with Clave y Tumbao,
a group of 18 dancers who perform
salsa and bachata across the country.
The group began in Huntsville three
years ago and started a Birmingham
chapter in 2017, for which Smith both
performs and coaches.
